For our final site visit of the year, we visited the Google HQ project in Kings Cross. This 11-storey project expects to cater for more than 4,000 employees and includes a rooftop garden with a running track, swimming pool and auditorium. It has also been called a “landscraper” being as long as The Shard is tall.
We held our Annual General Meeting in 1-19 Torrington Place from 6-7pm on 20th March 2018.
On the agenda for the meeting was a review of the past year, suggestions for improvements and the new committee elections.
A version of the presentation can be seen below.
Can you think of better way to end a Tuesday than with a slice of Franco Manca pizza and a Peroni or a glass of prosecco!
2018 is here! We have lots coming up but lets take a look back at some of the best of 2017.
In our first term we visited White City Living, One Canon Row, Gasholders London and the new UCL Student Centre, held our first ever Quiz Night and visited many different pubs. We have a bigger and better 2018 planned for you, stay tuned.
Thanks to all those that attended our Quiz Night at the Print Room Cafe, it was close at the top with a few points between first and second place.
Nik Sehmi, Senior Project Manager for Argent invited us up to Kings Cross on the 1st November, for a tour of the entire Kings Cross redevelopment and a look at his exciting high-end residential project, the Gasholders.
Wednesday 25th October was the UCL Construction & Property Society's second outing of the year. This time we were invited by Reactive Integrated Services (RIS) for a tour of their flagship project, the redevelopment of 1 Canon Row.
The former Canon Row Police Station had the most prestigious role within the Metropolitan Police with responsibilities for the Royal Family policing Buckingham Palace, Clarence House, St James’ Palace and 10 Downing St. Much of the exterior of the building is unaltered since it was built in 1898-1902 and is grade II* listed as is within the Whitehall Conservation Area.
Wednesday 4th October was the UCL Construction & Property Society's first outing of the year to the exciting new White City Living redevelopment in West London. St James Property Developers, part of the Berkley Group, offered us the opportunity for a sneak peak into their latest project.
The site which is bordered by three London Underground lines and sits only meters away from the former BBC Television Centre and the popular Westfield Shepherd's Bush shopping centre, will be transformed into the five stage, high-end residential development pictured below. The project will create 1,477 new luxury homes complete with gym, business pods, swimming pool and two 12-seater cinemas, as well as landscaped gardens, and a few small commercial units between the listed railway arches.
Did you see us at the Freshers Fair on Saturday? Harshil, Swapna & Charlie were at the UCL Freshers Fair last weekend, chatting to all you new students and promoting the society.
